Drill reaching desperation trying to find new sources of electricity to feed on and contact his friends on “The Whispers.”
The force reaches out to Nicholas, a boy who is kind of a loner and whose parents don’t know what to do with him. I think he gets a ton of cool points because he owns a Lite-Brite. Drill helps him against a group of bullies, which helps build trust.

Claire and Wes have the idea to funnel Drill out to a secure location by shutting power off at various parts of the city. Their plan is to starve him out. Minx says no to Drill and to leave her alone. He says he would forgive if she helps him make a new friend. He needs to play with his new friend because he is running out of time. Lena gets the brilliant idea to take Minx on a cruise where they can be away from electricity and be less vulnerable.
Henry doesn’t feel well and has headaches. Sean takes him to the hospital to get looked at. The two then start heading home, but are stuck in traffic due to the power outages. Sean finds a way around the roads, but gets in a car accident. A stranger helps him get Henry out of the car.

Energy spikes lead to the agents to discover Drill’s interest in the Deep Space Network, which they believe he might try to send signals out. We find out Nicholas’ dad actually works with the DSN, so we know why Drill is interested in him. He gets the boy to open his dad’s safe of codes. He heads to an abandoned school where Wes and Claire were trying to lure Drill at.
Operation kill Drill begins with the blackout slowly takes shape leading to a secure school. Claire notices Nicholas in the school. Wes and Claire go in to find him. They see Drill hovering over Nicholas. It appeared he was trying to possess the boy to have them give in and turn the power back on.

The Secretary of Defense insists the president that it’s a necessary sacrifice to finally taking care of Drill once and for all. Wes implores the president to give the order to turn the electricity back on and that Nicholas’ life matters. The president eventually agrees and saves the child’s life. Wes says they will eventually get Drill. His words don’t sit well with the show’s villain.
With the blackout causing travel delays, Lena changes her mind and wants to take Minx back home. They meet a mysterious stranger, who drives them back to their residence. After leaving the mother and daughter he goes back into his vehicle and writes down what he learned about them.

There is definitely more than meets the eye with him. The episode ends with Wes coming home to find Minx standing in front of the house in disbelief. Wes goes inside to find Lena’s lifeless body. She was electrocuted after walking in the kitchen and finding the water leaking from the fridge. Drill got to Wes where it hurts the most, his family.

Wow, what an ending. It was really powerfully done, from the cinematography and camera work, to the acting (the physical reaction that Wes has upon discovering Lena’s body was perfect), and of course the haunting song “Fly Low Carrion Crow” by Two Gallants. The ending scene reminded me of so many Sons of Anarchy episodes which always had really powerful final scenes.
